A table saw is also known as saw bench, which is a handy wood cutting/working device. A saw comprises of a round shaped saw blade, fixed on an arbor, which is operated by an electric motor. The blade projects through the table surface that offers support for cutting the material.
History
On May 23, 1906, the first table saw was found by Richard P. Lamotte as an efficient and faster method to cut wood.
Types of Table Saws
The general types of table saws are
• hybrid table saws,
• cabinet table saws,
• contractor table saws, and
• bench top table saws.
Hybrid Table Saws
These table saws are also known as high-end contractor table saws. They provide some of the benefits of cabinet saws at an affordable price over conventional cabinet saws. Hybrid saws provide a closed cabinet to assist upgrade dust collection. The cabinet may be comparable to a cabinet saw or shorter than that. Most of the hybrid saws have cabinet-installed trunnions and few have table-installed trunnions.
Cabinet Table Saws
These table saws are used to increase accuracy and reduce vibration. A cabinet saw is featured by a closed cabinet. Usually, these saws have induction motors, which work in the range of three horsepower to five horsepower. The motor is surrounded by a cabinet and it operates the blade with 3 parallel v-belts. Cabinet saws are huge and provide greater advantages than contractor saws such as heavier construction for high durability, a cabinet-mounted trunnions, etc.
Contractor Table Saws
These table saws are larger and heavier and are attached with base or stand, and even wheels. The motor pivots off the back of the saw and pushes the blade through one, or sometimes two, belts utilizing a one to two hp induction motor type. Frequently, this type is used by homeowners and hobbyists since traditional electrical circuits offer sufficient power; they cost significantly lesser too.
Bench Top Table saws
These table saws are lightweight and are developed to be kept on table or bench for usage. Commonly, they have pulleys from a universal motor type. One person can lift a table saw to transport it. Parts of this saw are made of plastic, aluminum, and steel, which are lightweight.
The Bench Top Table Saws are very cheap and are not as capable as other type of table saws. However, they offer sufficient precision and capacity for most tasks. A universal motor used in this saw is not durable as a brushless AC motor. However, it provides high power when you consider its weight and size. Top of this table saw is narrower over cabinet and contractor saws.
